The Singapore Sling was created at the world-famous Raffles Hotel in 1915 by a Hainanese-Chinese bartender. The “Sling’s attractive blush made it popular among the ladies and has since become a signature drink of the hotel and country, without which a trip to Singapore in incomplete. Today, the drink is enjoyed by all and can be found in most bars around the world.
Spice up your cocktail parties by making your very own Singapore Sling. In a shaker half-filled with ice cubes, combine one-half measure of gin, one-quarter cherry brandy, and one quarter mixed fruit juices (orange, lime or lemon, and pineapple). Shake well and strain into a cocktail glass. Add a few drops of Cointreau & Benedictine and Angostura Bitters into the drink and top with a cherry and a slice of pineapple.
